Summer in Portland, Maine

Maine and her scenery will leave you awestruck any time of the year. Add in a brisk morning, sunny skies, and a sea breeze; and you have the perfect summer destination. Although it's not the easiest place to get to, I promise it will be worth every second of travel when you step out of your hotel.

To say it's picturesque New England, is a vast understatement. Picture seagulls calling, lighthouses, sailboats, pier side dining/drinks; all in the quaint, walkable city center of Portland.

We want to provide our FAVORITE locales to give you that perfect 3 day weekend. And since we love all things fashion- what to wear!

1. Take a Ferry Ride- Ferry rides are a convenient way to see the entire Casco Bay on the cheap. Tickets are currently less than $12 for an adult roundtrip and have many departure options.

  • What to Wear: The Bellflower Dress
  • Why: Maine is well-known for it's extremely laid back vibe. The Bellflower will keep you cute, comfy, and casual regardless of what island you choose to explore.

2. Stroll Downtown Portland- Portland is not a large city and can easily be navigated by foot. Streets are pedestrian friendly, traffic is light, (even in the summer tourist season) and the local shops are just precious. When you need a rest, take a load off at any of their restaurants and bars. You are sure to meet some friendly Mainers, that will be more than happy to chat about their great state! Our favorite stops are: K Colette, Boone's , Holy Donut, and Cool as a Moose.

  • What to Wear: The Merlot Romper
  • Why: 3/4 length sleeves will be your friend during the brisk mornings in Maine. Not to worry though, Maine has almost zero humidity even in the "heat" of the day. You'll be comfy, cool all day in your outfit.

3. Take Lobster Home- If you're dreading leaving this amazing city, make it a little easier by taking the best of Maine home with you- LOBSTER! We stopped at the Harbor Fish Market right before hitting the airport. They have many packing options that are TSA friendly for a nominal fee. The staff there were very helpful and patient with our Southern questions & lack of lobster know how! The best part, you have something delicious to enjoy when you get home!

  • What to Wear- Enjoy your LOBSTAH in the comfort of your Saturday Sweats
  • Why: It's SWEATS! Need we say more?!

We hope you're all having an amazing summer with lots of travel memories!
XO- Hazel & Mae
